PhotonDelta on stage

1st OCT. 2019

At PhotonDelta we generate awareness and inform others about integrated photonics and our ecosystem. During the past two weeks, PhotonDelta has been on stage at three events. Ewit Roos, CEO of PhotonDelta, looks back on these events!

At the Dutch Photonic Event of PhotonicsNL in Delft, I explained the Dutch frontrunner position of integrated photonics. With our ambition, approach and technical platforms we are joining forces to conquer the world.

Furthermore, at the EPIC Conference, hosted by the European Space Agency in Noordwijk, I explained the main drivers for photonic integration in space. As space becomes more within reach for commercial use, the reduction of weight and energy consumption is key considering the price to launch one kilogram in space is currently around EUR 50,000.
Besides weight and energy consumption, systems must be able to cope with the growing data streams between satellites and aircrafts. The same drivers apply to data centers, mobility and Internet of Things. Integrated photonics makes it possible to build space probes with the size of a milk carton with a very low energy footprint. Thanks to these ‘milk carton satellites’, all kinds of enterprises get commercial access to space.

Finally, on a rainy Sunday morning in Dublin, 1300 participants from over 30 countries were present at the ECOC conference. We explained multiple applications, driven by the integration of functions on a single photonic chip from PhotonDelta. Many companies validated our message: customers don't care if the solution includes Silicon, Indium Phosphide or other alternative technologies. To become a successful technology, we must solve the customer's problems at an affordable price.
