Measuring progress on InPulse Pilot Line

18 DEC. 2019

PhotonDelta is participating in the EU project InPulse, the JePPIX Indium-Phosphide Pilot Line for prototyping PIC’s. The challenge for the Pilot Line is to ensure that customers are offered a seamless one-stop-shop to do their first prototype, assuming they require an Indium-Phosphide Photonic Integrated Circuit. Therefor several design houses, 3 foundries and testing capabilities are represented in the project. Next step is to attract customers. Partners of the project will present themselves on major exhibitions, especially in so called non-photonics market domains, where integrated photonic solutions could be of major benefit. Examples are easy to find: infrastructure, health & safety, food, etc.

Sustainable Exploitation Advisory Board measures progress on targets

The Sustainable Exploitation Advisory Board of the project is formed by 3 InP foundries -  SMART Photonics (NL), HHI (Germany), III-V Lab (France) - and PhotonDelta. On 18th of December, the board sat together to discuss and measure progress against the targets set in the proposal and agreed with the European Union. The targets range from reducing cycle times to uptake of the PIC technologies in different markets, but in general covering technology, operations, communications and business. We are on schedule with the fundamental preparations.

It was a pleasant boardmeeting, with an open conversation and room for firm recommendations. Thanks to my colleague Board members Martin Schell (HHI), Geert Appeldoorn (SMART Photonics) en Mohand Achouche (III-V Labs).
